Why choose medical insurance?
The following gives a brief reminder of what medical insurance can offer to your clients:
1. Speed
Traditionally, the NHS has provided an excellent service in times of emergency. However, it is a fact of life that many medical conditions, although not life-threatening, cause much discomfort and pain and impact on your ability to live your life as normal. Unfortunately, the demand placed on today's NHS means it can be many weeks or even months before you can get to see a specialist for treatment. Meanwhile, the condition does not get any better and may only get worse.
Having private medical insurance enables you to avoid NHS waiting lists and go straight from your GP to a specialist within a matter of days. Enabling you to be on the road to recovery that much quicker than if you wait your turn on the NHS. For employers who care about the health and well-being of their employees, medical insurance makes perfect sense. It
reduces the time staff are inconvenienced, away from work and therefore less productive - and reducing the employer's sickness and absence costs.
2. Quality of care
Once referred by their GP, the patient will be seen by specialists. Whether this is a consultant with years of experience or a nonmedical specialist, they are all highly trained and capable. Their sole role is to help provide a fast, efficient and high quality service. With private hospitals, the patient will enjoy the privacy of a single room with home comforts such as TV, radio, telephone, en suite facilities and less restriction on visiting times for family and friends.
3. Flexibility and choice
With private medical insurance, the patient has the freedom and flexibility to choose:
- which hospital they are treated in
- which specialist they are seen by and
- when they are treated, so they can arrange their treatment for a time that suits them.
4. Positive staff relations
Companies that provide enhanced benefits have loyal staff who appreciate that their employers care about them and are prepared to contribute some or all the cost towards this benefit. So your clients end up with happier, healthier, more committed staff.
Imagine being without it
It is common knowledge that once you have had access to treatment through medical insurance you can't imagine being without it. It's often only when you need to use it, that you can fully appreciate how everything we've mentioned is true.
We recognise that staff place a great amount of value on medical insurance as a
benefit and are resistant to the removal of it as a feature of their employment
package.
